About the faculty

In the Faculty of Education we refer to the centuries-old Jesuit educational tradition based mainly on Ignatian pedagogy. This tradition aims at shaping attitudes of sensitivity and readiness for self-education and growth throughout life in order to be "a person for others" and "a person with others". The concern for personal development is an important impulse to use its achievements in the practical activities of various educational institutions. Moreover, it points to the need for multilateral and integral human development in the existential and transcendental perspective.

The curricula of student education are based on the assumptions of Ignatian pedagogy. Their characteristic feature is the concern to gain not only specialized education, but also to support the student in his or her personal search for the meaning of life. In the course of studies, a lot of attention is paid to support the need to take care of one's own development based on Christian anthropology, which particularly appreciates interpersonal relations, especially teacher-student relations.

Inspired by such anthropology, the studies are to prepare for a more complete understanding of a human being and their needs. For these reasons, in the processes of education and preparation for the profession, the emphasis is placed not only on professional competence, but also on the moral responsibility of the future graduate. These attitudes are shaped by conducted lectures and seminars, as well as exercises and practices. The goals of education and development of the person are complemented by spiritual formation carried out by the Ignatianum Pastoral Ministry.
